Doctor is CTUSAB’s new president

Family physician Dr P. Abdon DaSilva was on Thursday elected president of the Congress of Trade Unions and Staff Associations of Barbados (CTUSAB).

Prior to his election, Dr DaSilva served as the umbrella trade union body’s representative on the Social Justice Committee.

He also previously served as CTUSAB’s third vice president, from 2018 to 2020, and second vice president, from 2020 to 2022.

The Vincentian-born former president of the Barbados Association of Medical Practitioners (BAMP) is now the fourth person to have been elected to the office of President of CTUSAB.

He succeeds Edwin O’Neal who resigned in September. The other predecessors were Cedric Murrell and Sir Roy Trotman. (PR/BT)
