Drive-In to host over 60 small businesses for market day

Managing Director of the Globe Drive-in Scheval Ali.

More than 60 small business owners will get the opportunity to take part in a market day activity hosted by the Globe Drive-In this weekend.

In an interview with Barbados TODAY on Friday, managing director Scheval Ali said he wanted entrepreneurs to have a space where they could grow their operations.

“We want people to come out and support local artisans by seeing what they have to offer. This is the first market we are holding in a very long time. It is better organised and has a range of vendors. If all goes well, we will make it a continuous thing, once a month or even every two weeks,” he said.

“This is a good opportunity for people who sell on the street, such as coconut vendors, to have their offerings in a more refined setting. They can network and engage with customers without having to worry about the hustle and bustle of the roadways. This is somewhere we people can launch a new product and build their customer base.”

Marketing representative Kaden Richards said there will be a variety of things to taste, see and try on. Handcrafted items, Bajan delicacies, natural skin care products, free beverage tasting and appetising foods will be on offer.

Gluten-free products will also be available through a partnership with the Globe Drive-In and Sea Island Foods.

Richards added that there will also be free health checks and free financial advice.

“The vendors are really keen about the market day. They like the location as it is a central location that can be easily accessed and they appreciate the low fee they had to pay to be a part of the initiative. So, we here at the Globe Drive-In are really excited to see how everything unfolds and we are hoping that the vendors have a worthwhile experience,” he said.

The market day takes place on Saturday from 9 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. at the Adams Castle, Christ Church drive-in.

Movies will be shown later in the evening as usual. (SZB)
