Gwyneth Squires has passed away

Leading bandleader and designer Gwyneth Squires has died.

The Trinidadian-born Squires has been making costumes for close to four decades and has won the Band of the Year, both in Grand Kadooment and Junior Kadooment on multiple occasions.

She has also won Festival Designer of the Year approximately 20 times.

In 2013, she was awarded the Barbados Service Medal for her contribution to the Crop Over Festival.
