The Ministry of Education Transformation says the Hilda Skeene Primary School will remain closed today, Wednesday, March 11 to allow for industrial cleaning to be completed at the school plant.
Following the sighting of a dead rodent on Tuesday, the decision was taken to close the school for cleaning in the interest of health and safety for all at the school.
The Principal of the school confirmed that a meeting with teachers and staff was convened to inform them about the intended closure and to discuss the next steps. Meanwhile, children had their customary lunch and were later ushered to the school pasture to play under the supervision of four (4) members of staff while awaiting collection by their parents or guardians.
The .ministry thanks the Education Technical Management Unit (ETMU) for its responsiveness in engaging the required cleaning services, and will be advised by the unit when all is clear to safely reopen the school.
We thank parents, teachers and staff for their understanding in the matter as we do all that is possible to minimise down time. (PR/MET)
