Orange dominates St Matthew’s sports

Orange House dominated the St Matthew’s Primary Inter-House Sports on Thursday, showcasing their prowess in both field and track events to emerge as the undisputed overall winners on the final day of competition at the Friendship Playing Field.

In the field events, Orange House secured an impressive total of 204 points, while their dominance also extended to the track where they amassed an additional 389 points, bringing their overall tally to 593 points.

Satep-En-Ra James and Anniyah Sandiford were instrumental in Orange’s success, contributing significantly to their victory in both categories.

Their outstanding efforts propelled Orange ahead of the competition, with Green finishing second on 532 points, with Purple closely behind on 530 points.

Despite Orange’s overall triumph, Purple had standout performances, particularly from Anara Alleyne-Toussaint.

The talented athlete remained undefeated throughout the day, leading Purple to claim the track title with an impressive score of 393 points.

Alleyne-Toussaint’s exceptional feats included victories in the Under-13 girls’ 400m, 100m, and 200m events, as well as contributing to Purple’s win in the 4x100m relay.

Anita Holder of Purple also left a lasting impression in the Under-9 girls’ division. The 8-year-old dynamo took victories in the 80m, 100m, and 150m races, displaying remarkable speed.

Holder further demonstrated her versatility by anchoring her team to victory in the 4x100m relay.

Orange House’s nine-year-old standout, Anniyah Sandiford, showcased her athletic ability in the girls’ Under-11 division.

Sandiford finished second in the 300m, while clinching wins in the 100m and 200m.

Outstanding performances from Inika Phillips, Jamani Barker-Bradshaw, and Raphael Bailey, also played a pivotal role in Orange’s domination. (RT)
