CIBC gives $425 000 in support to two organisations

Comtrust Foundation Director Lynda Goodridge presents the funds to Major David Clarke of the Barbados Defence Force. Major Clarke is the Coordinator for the Field Hospital.

As CIBC Caribbean celebrated its rebranding recently, two entities also had cause for cheer as the bank donated a total of $425 000 to support their vital work.

The bank, through its charitable arm, the FirstCaribbean International ComTrust Foundation, donated $175 000 to the Barbados Defence Force’s Field Hospital to purchase a generator, which will assist with hospital’s readiness for deployment in response to disasters.

The other entity, the Caribbean Science Foundation was presented with $250 000 to support programmes targeted mainly at the region’s youth. These include the Student Programme for Innovation in Science and Engineering (SPISE), Caribbean STEM Olympiads, Barbados Junior Robotics Camps and the Caribbean Computer Coding Workshops.

The donations took place during a ceremony marking the rebranding of the bank from CIBC FirstCaribbean to CIBC Caribbean last Friday at their regional headquarters in Warrens, St Michael.
