The Barbados Licensing Authority (BLA) remains open to serve the public despite an altercation that occurred on its compound earlier today.

The incident, which left a secondary school student nursing stab wounds, spilled over from the main road into the yard of the BLA in The Pine, St. Michael.

Acting Deputy Chief Licensing Officer Lynette Williams confirmed the incident which she said left staff members shaken. However, she said operations in the Pine have not been affected and the offices remain open.

“This morning’s incident has been very traumatic for our staff and has been very unfortunate, but the Barbados Licensing Authority, in trying to conduct business to the public, will not be tolerating any form of disturbance or violence on its property,” she said.

Following the incident, which was witnessed by both staff and customers, the Barbados Police Service and the Barbados Ambulance Service were summoned to the scene. (PR/MTW)
