Baby Gems out to defend netball title

Barbados’ Under-16 netballers will be looking for a hat-trick of titles at the 21st Jean Pierre Caribbean Netball Championships.

The 15-member Baby Gems left the island this evening for St Lucia, where they will take part in the regional championships from April 3 to 9.

Last year when the tournament was held in Dominica, Barbados played unbeaten, winning all five of their games to be crowned queens.

They also captured the title in 2019, which was the last time the competition was held prior to 2023.

The team will be bolstered by the presence of five players from last year’s championship side in Tyesha Trotman, Deeya Forde-Haynes, Quinesha Cox, Siarah Small and Kianna Harte.

Cameron Greenidge is the head coach and Jillian Sealy, the manager. Jacqueline Browne-McConney is the assistant coach, Dennis Callender is the trainer and Chantelle Brathwaite the physiotherapist.
