UWI Blackbirds continue to soar in the Barbados Netball Association’s Premier League.

When action continued at the Netball Stadium on Wednesday, UWI comfortably defeated BPA Police Boys and Girls 56-40.

UWI assumed control early in the match and led 17-10 after the end of the first quarter and stretched their lead to 14 (32-18) at the half and 16 (43-27) at the end of the third quarter.

Police had their best showing in the final period, scoring 13 points, but it was too little too late.

The Blackbirds were led by national player Shonica Wharton, who sank 50 of her 59 shot attempts. She was ably assisted by goal attack Brianna Holder who netted six of her seven attempts.

For Police, goal shoot Ginae Austin connected on 26 of 37 attempts, Carol-Ann Nurse scored five of six attempts, Michell Rogers netted five of 11 attempts and Monica Waithe converted four of her eight shots.
