American ultra low-cost carrier Frontier Airlines is on course to provide new services between Puerto Rico and Barbados in another two months.

It announced Wednesday that it will launch a non-stop service three times a week between San Juan’s Luis Munoz Marin International Airport and the Grantley Adams International Airport on July 3.

In a statement, Vice President of Network and Operations Design at Frontier Airlines, Josh Flyr said: “As we anticipate an exciting and potentially record-breaking summer travel season, we’re thrilled to further expand our route map.

“More destinations served means more affordable and convenient travel options for consumers across the US, Caribbean and beyond.”

The airline previously indicated that it was shifting its strategy by reducing flights to oversaturated vacation markets like Florida and Las Vegas while increasing service in certain markets that are “underserved or overpriced”.

Frontier Airlines is offering an introductory fare of US$59 (BDS$118) – subject to Government approval – on its Barbados flights.

A subsidiary of Frontier Group Holdings Inc, Frontier Airlines  is headquartered in Denver, Colorado. The company operates 134 A320 family aircraft and has the largest A320neo family fleet in the US.
