Veteran trade unionist Dennis Clarke

The Trade Union movement is mourning the passing of veteran trade unionist and former General Secretary of the National Union of Public Workers Dennis Clarke.

His former colleague and friend, Walter Maloney, said he was shaken by Clarke’s passing.
He described Clarke as man of integrity and deep faith who went above and beyond to ensure workers in both the public and private sectors were treated fairly.

“Dennis loved people, he could not stand to see persons being unfaired. Dennis represented not only represented persons in the public sector but he also did pro bono [work] for persons in the private sector as well,” Maloney said.

He added that Clarke will be missed but his legacy will remain and be carried on by young workers who were trained by him.
