Man, 20, dead following shooting in St Michael

A 20-year-old man has died following a shooting in St Michael Sunday afternoon, police say.

The victim has been identified as Amar O’Brien Douglas of Dash Valley, St George.

Police say that around 1 p.m. officers responded to a shooting at Cutting Road, St Michael. 

They say a group of men were liming on a block area known as ‘Camp Survival’ located near Cutting Road when a motor car drove up and two men alighted and opened fire causing the crowd to scatter. 

Douglas was hit and fell to the ground, police say. He was transported by a private vehicle to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital where he was pronounced dead. His death brings to 28 the number of homicides recorded in Barbados for 2024.

Police are appealing to anyone who has witnessed or has any knowledge about this incident or the perpetrators involved to contact the District A Police Station at 430-7242, Crime Stoppers at 1 800 8477 (TIPS), or Police Emergency 211.
