Barbados is under a flood watch

A flood watch is in effect for Barbados.

The Barbados Meteorological Services (BMS) said the island can expect heavy rainfall tonight that could generate flooding across low lying areas.

The forecasters explain that a tropical wave along with favourable upper-level conditions is affecting the island.

“Moderate to heavy rainfall already generated around an inch of rainfall in certain areas across the island. An additional 30.0 to 50.0 mm of rainfall is forecasted for tonight.”

The flood watch will be updated or terminated on Friday at 6 a.m.
