Saharan dust haze continues to affect the island

 

A severe dust haze warning and small craft advisory remains in effect as a moderate to thick layer of Saharan Dust haze continues to affect the island, the Barbados Meteorological Services (BMS) said on Tuesday.
In its latest advisory, the BMS said visibility has been reduced today and further deterioration is expected tonight with a gradual improvement on Christmas Day.
“A Saharan Dust Plume began to affect Barbados from Monday, 23rd December, 2024. The plume had peak concentrations overnight with another peak concentration on Tuesday night 24th December, 2024. Visibility has been reduced to 10km today and further deteriorate to 5km tonight with a gradual improvement on Christmas Day.”
The severe dust haze warning and the small craft advisory will be terminated on Wednesday at 12 p.m.
