Crash claims life of St George motorcyclist

Police are investigating a fatal road crash that claimed the life of motorcyclist Reon Dottin, 25, of Drax Hall Tenantry, St George, on Wednesday evening.

The collision, which occurred at around 6:48 p.m. along Haggatt Hall Road, St Michael, involved a bus, a van and Dottin’s motorcycle.

According to police, the van was travelling towards Mapp Hill, ahead of the motorcycle, while the bus was heading in the opposite direction. When the vehicles reached the area of Cutting Road, there was a collision involving all three vehicles.

The motorcyclist sustained serious injuries and was taken by ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, where he later died.

Investigations are continuing, said police, who appealed to anyone who may have witnessed the crash, or has information that could assist, to contact District ‘A’ Police Station at 430-7242 or 430-7246.

When Barbados TODAY visited the family’s home on Thursday, Dottin’s mother, Eldeen, was too distraught to speak.

A relative described him as “a cool person”.

“He was helpful and always had a smile on his face, and he loved his motorcycle,” the family member said.

Dottin, a former Lodge School student, worked as an air conditioning technician, he added.
