Manchester United captured all three points in dramatic fashion against Liverpool on Sunday, with an 84th-minute header from Harry Maguire, sealing a 2–1 victory in the storied rivalry and condemning the red half of Merseyside to a fourth consecutive defeat.

The match began with controversy, as Manchester’s Bryan Mbeumo scored in the second minute, just seconds after Liverpool players appealed for the referee to halt play due to an apparent head injury to midfielder Alexis Mac Allister.

Liverpool responded with intensity, with Arne Slot’s men dominating nearly every statistical category, including possession and touches in the opposition box.

Cody Gakpo came agonisingly close on several occasions, striking the post three times before finally netting the equaliser in the 78th minute.

However, Maguire’s late header secured United’s second consecutive Premier League win under manager Ruben Amorim, lifting them to ninth place — just three points shy of the Champions League spots. Meanwhile, Slot’s squad will need to regroup quickly, now trailing league leaders Arsenal by four points.
