School term ends today as students begin Christmas break

Students across Barbados are officially heading into their Christmas break, as the first school term ends today, Thursday, December 11.

Teachers will wrap up the term on Friday, ahead of a three-week holiday period.

According to the Ministry of Educational Transformation, classes will resume in the new year with teachers returning on Monday, January 5, and students on Tuesday, January 6, 2026.

The upcoming Hilary Term will run for 13 weeks and will include a two-day mid-term break on February 19 and 20. It will also feature major national school events such as the National Primary Schools’ Athletics Championships (NAPSAC), the Barbados Secondary Schools’ Athletics Championships (BSSAC), and African Awareness Month activities. That term will end for students on Wednesday, April 1, and for teachers on Thursday, April 2.
