2025 Division 1 champions St Andrew Lions were handed a rough re-introduction to life in the top flight, when Barbados Football Association Premier League action continued at the Wildey Technical Centre on Tuesday night.

Playing in their opening game of the season after being promoted back into the Premiership, they were beaten 3-0 by Gall Hill, who were entering their second season back at the top following a prolonged absence.

Gall Hill hit the post in the 36th minute before Shaquon Waldron scored in the 44th minute to give them a 1-0 lead.

That scoreline remained until the 82nd minute when Tyrico Redman-Bellamy made it 2-0 to the Christ Church-based unit.

A tough night was made worse for Lions when Redman-Bellamy struck once again in additional time to complete an emphatic win for Gall Hill.

In the nightcap game, Ellerton took the lead from a left side corner in the 23rd minute when Javon Austin timed his run well from outside the box, before shaking off a Wotton defender to head the ball home.

Wotton drew level compliments a 64th minute header from Keon Harding which arose from a free kick, with Ellerton convinced a defender had been fouled before the cross which led to the equaliser.

There was a late twist, however, as yet another set piece goal in the 88th minute saw Ellerton retaking the lead.

A corner from the left side from Shakille Belle was met at the far post by  a towering header from Shane Codrington, to spark celebrations among the Ellerton team and disappointment for Wotton.

With the Christ Church team pushing for an equaliser in the dying seconds, captain Belle received a pass 30 yards out, before speeding into the box and stroking a right foot finish past advancing goalie Raheem Agard to seal a 3-1 win for Ellerton.

Following the opening round of games, Gall Hill top the table on goal difference, with five teams all having three points.

Action continues at the Wildey Technical Centre on Sunday evening at 6.
