Matthews contributes to Mumbai victory in WPL

West Indies captain Hailey Matthews took one wicket before returning to score a quickfire 22 off 12 balls at the top of the order, as Mumbai Indians defeated Gujarat Giants by seven wickets with four balls remaining, in their Women’s Premier League game at Navi Mumbai.

The top rated all rounder is playing in her first series after recovering from a serious shoulder injury which required surgery.

Batting first the giants amassed 192 for five, as Georgia Wareham stroked an unbeaten 43 and Kanika Ahuja 35.

With the match going down to the final over, Mumbai secured the win at 193 for three, as captain Harmanpreet Kaur top scored with 71 not out from 43 balls.
