BL&P issues safety warning over election paraphernalia

The Barbados Light & Power Company (BL&P) has issued a warning to political candidates and supporters, reminding them that utility poles must remain clear of posters, signs, nails, staples, and tacks during the election campaign period.

In a post on its social media page the BL&P said: “These items create serious safety hazards for our linemen and can also put members of the public at risk. From punctured protective gear to dangerous falls, even small objects left behind can lead to severe injury.

Posting on poles also interferes with routine work, delays emergency response when pole numbers are covered, and exposes non‑utility workers to potentially fatal electrical hazards.” (PR/BT)
