Man remanded after drug trafficking charge

A 42-year-old St Michael man has been remanded to Dodds Prison after pleading not guilty to a drug-related offence in the Oistins Magistrates’ Court.

Anthony Francis Lerius, of Upper Wellington Street, appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Deidre McKenna on Friday charged with acts preparatory for the purpose of trafficking between December 1, 2025 and January 16, 2026.

Police said the charge followed an operation by the Barbados Police Service Narcotics Unit, during which approximately 28 kilograms of suspected cannabis were seized.

The drugs are estimated to have a street value of $448 000.

Lerius was remanded to the Barbados Prison Service (Dodds) and is scheduled to return to court on Monday, January 26.
