Lawyer on trial for $855 000 theft

The trial of an attorney accused of stealing more than $800 000 from a client has begun in the No. 5 Supreme Court.

Hilary Nelson, of Bagatelle Terrace, St James, is charged with stealing £347 560 (BDS$855 000) belonging to Errol Hewitt between November 13, 2018 and March 4, 2019.

A nine-member jury heard evidence from the investigating officer and several other law enforcement witnesses on Wednesday.

Nelson is represented by attorney Daquan Nedd, while acting Senior State Counsel Tito Holder is prosecuting. Justice Pamela Beckles presides over the case, which continues on Thursday.
