Police probe quarry death

Police are investigating an incident at a quarry in Lears, St Michael on Wednesday morning that left one man dead and three others injured.

 

According to initial reports, around 9:57 a.m., several workers were setting up a piece of equipment when it collapsed on four of the men. 

 

PC Damien Farmer of the Communications and Public Affairs Department of the Barbados Police Service, told reporters on the scene: “Initial investigations have revealed that persons were in the area setting up a piece of equipment when it collapsed injuring four persons. One male succumbed to his injuries at the scene, another was transported to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, and two others sought private medical assistance.

 

“A medical doctor visited the scene, examined the body, and pronounced death. Investigations are continuing into this matter.”

 

The identity of the deceased has not yet been released while District ‘A’ police enquiries continue into the cause of the fatal incident which is being treated as an unnatural death.
