Kelvin Ricardo Browne had to pay a $500 fine immediately or face one week at Dodds Prison for having a quantity of cocaine on Sunday. The 44-year-old, of Durants Development, Christ Church, appeared in the No. 2 District ‘A’ Magistrates’ Court and pleaded guilty to being in possession of four grammes of cocaine, trafficking and intending to supply the drug on April 20. The cocaine has an estimated street value of $200. The court heard that police officers on mobile duty along Welches were behind a motorcycle which stopped at a traffic light. The accused looked back and began fidgeting with the front of his pants and rode off when the police activated the siren. Assistance was sought and the accused lost control of the motorcycle and fell. He was held and searched, and a small drawstring bag was found in his boxers with a clear wrapping containing a white powdery substance suspected to be cocaine. Magistrate Manila Renee imposed the fine on the possession offence and reprimanded and discharged him on the trafficking and intent-to-supply charges.
