Defending champs Bulls win playoff opener

Defending champions Burger King Clapham Bulls did it the hard way, but eventually secured a hard fought 86-85 win over Fusionz Boutique Station Hill Cavaliers in game one of their semifinal playoff series in the Barbados Basketball Association’s  Premier League.

Playing at the Barbados Community College on Tuesday, Akeem Marsh led the way for the Bulls with 24 points, Simeon Maynard added 22 and Rasheed Maynard 13.

The Cavs got 24 points from Deveron Knight and 15 each from Gavin Philips, Saeed Norville and Darren Hunte in the close encounter.

C.A.M Smart Assurance City United Celtics were far more emphatic in winning game one of their series against KFC Pinelands 94-80. 

Kiserian Adams led the way with 28 points, while Derion Hurley added 16 and Theo Greenidge 11 for the Celtics.

Carl Thorpe top scored with 22 points for Pinelands, with Rachad Hall adding 20 and Adriel Brathwaite 17.

Game two in both series is set for the Barbados Community College on Saturday, with game three if necessary, set for April 29.
