Barbados ramps up hurricane preparations

Barbados has begun a new round of hurricane preparedness meetings ahead of the start of the 2026 Atlantic Hurricane Season on June 1, with emergency, security, health, utility, tourism and private sector agencies involved in the planning.Prime Minister Mia Mottley said the country must take a disciplined approach to readiness as climate change continues to make weather systems more unpredictable.
