Teen remanded on robbery charge

A 16-year-old boy has been remanded to Dodds Prison after appearing in court on a robbery charge.

The Christ Church boy is accused of robbing Alexander Webb of a chain valued at $12 000 belonging to Reuben King on May 25.

The offence, which is indictable, was read to the accused by Magistrate Manila Renee.

Objecting to his release, prosecutor Sergeant Kenmore Phillips told the court that it was alleged that a firearm had been used in the commission of the offence, that the offence was committed after 10 p.m., “the tender age of the accused [which] shows a lack of supervision”, the need to protect society and the accused, and the strength of the evidence.

The accused, who was represented by defence attorney Kristin Vanderpool, will return to court on June 30.
