Car washer remanded after assault charge

A 36-year-old car washer has been remanded to Dodds Prison after pleading guilty to assault, with sentencing set for next month.

Ricky Venceroy Phillips of Jackson Tenantry Road, St Michael, appeared before Magistrate Manila Renee in the No. 2 District ‘A’ Magistrates’ Court and admitted to assaulting Lawrence Alleyne on May 30.

He however denied using unlawful violence towards Alleyne and Shamekah Bishop, and that his conduct would have caused persons of reasonable firmness at the scene to fear for their personal safety.

Magistrate Renee remanded him until July 6, when the facts will be heard, and sentencing will take place.
