Defending champs advance to netball final

After dominating the courts throughout the competition, defending champions Shirley Chisholm Primary have advanced to the final of the Pedialyte Sport, National Sports Council Netball Competition.

Playing at the Garfield Sobers Gymnasium, they defeated Wilkie Cumberbatch Primary 17-5. Earlier at the end of a tight first quarter, Shirley Chisholm led 4-2, before moving into a 9-3 half time lead and moving ahead 13-4 at the end of the third quarter.

Lashanae Pasley led the scoring for Shirley Chisholm, while converting 9 of her 11 attempts and Kimaria Allen-Farell 8 of 12.

Zuri Stoute shot a perfect 4 of 4 for Wilkie Cumberbatch and Empress Nurse 1 of 3.

Earlier in the opening semifinal, West Terrace booked their spot in the final with a commanding 12-6 victory over Christ Church Girls.

They led 4-1 after the first quarter and 5-3 at half time, while at the end of the third segment of play, West Terrace were ahead 9-5.

Ajela Gittens was successful with 7 of her 11 attempts and Lyah Williams 5-6, while for Christ Church Girls, Hailey Bourne Skeete converted her lone shot and Aaniyah Folkes 5 of 9.
