St Giles Primary captured both the boys’ singles and team titles, during the second annual European Union-sponsored, National Sports Council, Primary School Road Tennis competition

Playing at the outdoor courts of the Garfield Sobers Gymnasium on June 27, Nathan Stuart of St Giles fought back from a set down to defeat Giovanni Weir of St Cyprians in a tightly contested encounter, 17-21, 21-18, 22-20.

In the boys’ team competition, St Giles overcame strong opposition from Westbury and Warrens Primary to clinch the title as well.

Among the girls, Zabrina Greenidge of Charles F Broome Memorial  defeated Nia Innis of Warrens Primary in the final 21-9, 21-14.

Blackman & Gollop won the girls’ team title, with St Giles second and Charles F Broome Memorial third.

This year’s competition featured 20 participating schools, each of whom received a road tennis kit.
