Following a summation of the trial by Justice Laurie-Ann Smith-Bovell, a nine-member jury returned a verdict convicting Keith Eric Eversley, 68, of Oak Leaf Villa, Mangrove Plantation, of having sexual intercourse with a woman without her consent, or being reckless as to whether she consented, on February 16, 2019. The judge thanked the panel of five women and four men in the No. 4 Supreme Court for their service before remanding Eversley to Dodds Prison pending sentencing. Acting Director of Public Prosecutions Alliston Seale SC and acting Senior State Counsel Paul Prescod, who prosecuted the case, and defence attorney Rasheed Belgrave, who represents the now convicted man, are expected to make sentencing submissions on September 25.
