Court Local News Court orders report for man admitting gun and ammunition charges Jenique BelgravePublished: 04/07/2026 Updated: 03/07/20260119 views A St James man who admitted to illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition is to be assessed before sentencing after a High Court judge ordered a pre-sentence report and custody record. Inyah Iroyal Jones pleaded guilty before Justice Pamela Beckles to having a Taurus .380 ACP calibre pistol without a valid licence and four rounds of ammunition without a valid permit. Acting Senior State Counsel Maya Kellman told the court that police applied for a search warrant after receiving information that a man with a gun was seen running into a woman’s residence. They found Jones in a bedroom, but nothing was found on him, but discovered the gun after looking under the mattress. Admitting that the firearm was his, he told police: “I find it and I run in here and put it under the bed,” later saying: “I apologise. I didn’t mean to do this to the family.” Jones, who is represented by attorney Kyle Walkes, returns to court on July 28. (JB)
