Paradise storm to top of table after 16-goal blitz

Paradise stormed into the top spot of the Barbados Football Association’s Kotex Women’s League after a stunning 16-0 demolition of Whitehall, climbing three places in the standings with one of the competition’s biggest wins. 

Playing at the BFA’s Technical Centre in Wildey on Saturday, Tekoa Hope-Downes led the rout with four goals, while Solange Holford added a hattrick.

Reeann Hinkson-Browne, Acacia Small and Keena Barrow all grabbed two goals apiece, while the Dover-based club got additional goals from Denea Payne, Shanice Stevenson and Soraya Toppin-Herbert.

Paradise now have a perfect record after four games and move up to twelve points, three ahead of Mavericks, who slip one position down to second on nine points.

Technique were the other big winners on Saturday, with a 7-0 victory over bottom of the table Police, seeing them jump two places up to third, also on nine points, but with an inferior goal difference to Mavericks.

Acima Alleyne was on target on four occasions for Technique, while Kyante Warren had a double strike, with Miracle Maynard grabbing the remaining goal.

Following the latest results, Empire dropped one position down to fourth on six points, just ahead of RF Prime on goal difference, while FVFC Femini are sixth- and seventh-placed. Police have yet to secure a point.
