Barbadian trio advances to World Under-20 semis

Three Barbadians advanced to the semifinals of their respective events as the World Under-20 Athletics Championships continued in Oregon on Thursday.

CARIFTA Games gold medallist Shamari Greenidge-Lewis clocked 46.34 seconds to finish second in his heat and advance to the semifinals of the men’s 400m.

Kadia Rock also continued her strong showing this season in the 400m. Competing in Heat Six, she finished fourth in 53.32 seconds to qualify as one of the fastest non-automatic qualifiers.

In related action, Barbadian Rashad Gibson placed third in his heat of the men’s 400m hurdles to also book his place in the semifinals. Running in Heat Eight, he clocked 51.74 seconds.

In Wednesday’s evening session, Jayden Walcott was sixth in the final of the men’s shot put with a best effort of 19.27m.
