Woman placed on bond for wounding, damage

A 50-year-old Deacons Farm woman has been placed on a bond and urged to seek help for anger management after admitting to wounding another woman and damaging property.

Shirnelle Evadney Griffith of Farm Road, Deacons Farm, reappeared in the District ‘A’ Traffic Court after previously admitting to unlawfully and maliciously wounding Niambi Walrond and damaging a glass window belonging to Yvonne Callender, intending to damage such or being reckless as to whether it was damaged.  

Initially denying the offences, which occurred on February 5, 2025, Griffith threw in the towel earlier this year and said that she would compensate both accused.  

But Magistrate Jared Richards informed her that even though time was granted by the court to allow for this, there was no record of her paying compensation and said he was left with “no choice” but to sentence her.  

He placed her on a six-month bond for the wounding charge, instructing that if breached, she will have to pay $1 000 immediately or spend one month at Dodds Prison. She was reprimanded and discharged in relation to the damages offence.  

“I read your psychiatric report,” he told Griffith. “You don’t have any mental health issues, you just have problems with anger management, and you can get help for that and I advise you to.”
