Labourer back in court over alleged unauthorised car use

A St Peter labourer accused of taking and damaging a car without permission was remanded after appearing in the District ‘A’ Traffic Court because he could not find someone to post bail.

Mikal Torique Worrell, 30, of Miller Road, Farm Road, St Peter, was not required to plead to charges of taking a vehicle for his own use and driving it without the owner’s consent and damaging the car belonging to Shakir Jordan or being reckless as to whether the vehicle would be damaged.

He is also accused of driving the vehicle on Miller Road without having a driver’s licence.

In addition, he faces three cannabis related charges – that he was in possession of 25.11 grammes of marijuana, trafficked and intended to supply the drug.

The offences all allegedly occurred on August 2.

When he appeared in court, prosecutor Sergeant Gazelda Knight had no objection to his bail, but there was no surety available, and Magistrate Jared Richards remanded him to Dodds Prison until August 13.

The case was transferred to District ‘E’ Magistrates’ Court.
