Local News Roadworks planned across island next week Barbados Today23/08/2026024 views (File Photo) The Ministry of Transport and Works (MTW) will carry out road repairs, drainage work and other maintenance across several parishes next week, while crews will also remark school crossings ahead of the new school year. In Christ Church, work will continue at Parish Land and Chancery Lane, while pothole patching is planned for Vauxhall Main Road, Breedy Land, St Davids, Long Beach, Wilcox, Chancery Lane and Durants Development. In St Michael, repairs will continue at Fontabelle and off the Mighty Grynner Highway, while Emmerton Lane is being prepared for paving. St George will see continued work at Workmans, along with the construction of speed humps outside St Luke’s Primary School. Pothole patching is also scheduled for Sweet Vale and Newbury to St Judes. Works are also planned across St John, St Thomas, St Philip, St Lucy, St James, St Peter, St Andrew and St Joseph. Farm Bridge in St Peter remains closed until further notice, with access between Speightstown and the Ronald Mapp Highway available through Warleigh Road. MTW’s road-marking crews will also remark school crossings in several parishes. Daytime work will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., while night work will take place between 6 p.m. and 4 a.m., weather permitting. Motorists are being urged to reduce their speed when travelling through work zones to protect workers and avoid damaging freshly painted road markings. (MTW)
