No surety, so accused man remanded

A 50-year-old unemployed man was remanded to Dodds Prison until Thursday because no one was available to act as his surety.

Fabian Antonio Albert Lewis, who lives in Hinkson Gap, New Orleans, St Michael, appeared before Magistrate Manila Renee in the No. 2 District ‘A’ Magistrates Court to hear charges of criminal damage.

He is accused of damaging 16 windows and three doors owned by Brian Elcock, and 11 windows and five doors owned by Chenia Sue, either intentionally or recklessly. The alleged offences occurred on June 6.

Although no one objected to Lewis getting bail, he told the court that he had no one to sign as his surety.

Magistrate Renee ordered that he be remanded and moved the case to the District ‘C’ Magistrates Court, where he will appear on Thursday.
