Player of the match Sunil Narine produced a superb all-round performance as the Trinidad and Tobago Knight Riders defeated the Barbados Tridents by seven wickets when the Republic Bank Caribbean Premier League continued on Friday.

After being sent into bat at Queen’s Park Oval, the Tridents never recovered from a slow start as they struggled from 31 for 1 at the end of the powerplay to 127 for 9.

Opener Zachary Carter top scored with 28 from 27 balls, with the next best score coming from captain Chris Green, who smashed 27 from 17 deliveries.

Narine led a disciplined Knight Riders bowling attack, taking 2 for 14, while Kieron Pollard grabbed 2 for 19.

In their turn at the wicket, Knight Riders never looked back after cruising to 60 without loss at the end of the powerplay.

Narine and Collin Munroe added 96 runs for the first wicket before Munroe was dismissed for 37.

Narine added 55 from 33 deliveries as the Knight Riders eventually clinched the win at 128 for 3 in the 15th over.

The result sees them moving up the table to 5th position and dropping the Tridents down to 6th, following their second straight defeat. (KH)
