Painter reprimanded over cannabis offences

A St Peter painter was reprimanded and discharged after admitting cannabis-related offences in the No. 2 District ‘A’ Magistrates’ Court.

Justin Akeem Scantlebury-Bishop, 28, of Indian Ground, admitted to possession of, trafficking in, and intent to supply a quantity of cannabis on September 1.

The court heard that police on duty along Cooks Alley observed the accused standing in a corner smoking a cigar wrap while wearing a blue haversack. Officers approached him, and he consented to a search, during which they found a transparent bag containing vegetable matter. He was asked to give an account and said: ‘It’s shake-off that is mine.”

The suspected cannabis weighed 15.3 grammes and had a value of $76.60.

Scantlebury-Bishop apologised to the court for the offence.

Magistrate Manila Renee reprimanded and discharged him on all charges.
