Lakes Folly man admits to cannabis charges

The strong scent of cannabis emanating from a vehicle stuck in traffic led to a Lakes Folly man having to admit to three criminal charges.

Ebrahim Mohamed Adam, a 23-year-old entrepreneur, appeared in the District ‘A’ Traffic Court and pleaded guilty to possessing, having a trafficable quantity and intending to supply 21 grammes of cannabis on September 20.

The drugs have an estimated street value of $105.55.

The court heard that police were directing slow-moving traffic along Fairchild Street at its junction with Bridge and Probyn Streets when they caught the strong scent of cannabis coming from a car. The driver was directed to pull over and he complied. When asked if he was in possession of the drug, Adam admitted having it and removed a bag containing the marijuana from the centre console.

Magistrate Jared Richards ordered him to keep the peace for one month for the possession charge, warning Adam that if breached, he would have to pay $500 immediately or spend ten days in jail.

He was reprimanded and discharged on the other two charges.
