Two men bonded after KFC altercation

Two men who admitted causing a disturbance during an altercation at a fast food restaurant on Saturday night have each been placed on a one-year bond to keep the peace.

Hance Chesterfield Walthrust, 50, an accountant from Rogers Terrace, Pillersdorf Development, Grazettes, and Glyne Nigel Stuart, 57, a bus driver from Golden Ridge, St George, appeared before acting Magistrate Shakieda Sealy in the No. 2 District ‘A’ Magistrates’ Court. They admitted that on October 3, they made a disturbance along Fairchild Street, a public place.

Police responded to the disturbance at KFC on Fairchild Street where Walthrust told officers that he had been involved in an altercation with Stuart, who had struck him on the head with a stool.

Stuart reported that Walthrust had kicked him in the chest and that he had used the stool to defend himself. Walthrust was taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital by ambulance, while Stuart was taken to Central Police Station. Two days later, Walthrust voluntarily went to the police station, and both men were formally charged.

After they apologised to the court and wider society for their actions, Magistrate Sealy placed each man on a one-year bond to keep the peace. If either breaches the bond, he will have to pay $1 000 immediately or spend three months at Dodds Prison.
