Security guard bailed on car theft charge

A security guard accused of stealing a $54 000 car and other property was granted $20 000 bail when he appeared in court on an indictable theft charge.

Demarkko Shaquille Coombs, 31, of St Patricks, Christ Church, is accused of stealing the car, a $1 000 watch, a bat worth $600, two pairs of shoes valued at $500 and a car key worth $713.21 belonging to Jafari Toppin, and a $700 mobile phone belonging to the National Sports Council.

He was not required to plead to the indictable offence, which allegedly occurred on September 26.

Coombs, who is represented by lawyer Shadia Simpson, will reappear before the No. 2 District ‘A’ Magistrates’ Court on January 14, 2027.
