Gibson gets bail

After waiting for over an hour to have her passport brought to the court, a wanted woman was released on bail from the District ‘A’ Magistrates’ Court.

Louann Merlaine Gibson, 47, of Deal Gardens, Maxwell, Christ Church, who was the subject of a police wanted bulletin, was granted bail in the sum of $15 000 by Acting Magistrate Anika Gibson when she appeared on two charges.

Gibson, who was represented by attorneys-at-law Frederick Alleyne and Rasheed Belgrave, was not required to plead to the charges that between January 8, 2016 and June 2, 2016, she stole $37 086.63 belonging to the Bridgetown Cruise Terminal Incorporated and that she engaged in money laundering by disposing of $37 086.63 that was the proceeds of crime on the same date.

There was no objection to bail by Station Sergeant Carrison Henry, but he asked the court to impose strict conditions on Gibson.

As a result, the acting magistrate ordered her to surrender her passport as well as to report to a police station twice a week.

Gibson is scheduled to return to court on May15, 2019.
