Convict admits he had drugs for smoking and drinking

Two hundred hours of community service was the punishment imposed on a 26-year-old man who pleaded guilty to two counts of possession of marijuana.

Rasheen Delerente Tobia Massiah, of Apt 4 Fordes Road, Brittons Hill, St Michael has three months to complete the service. He returns before Magistrate Douglas Frederick on September 4 for an update.

The District ‘A’ Magistrates’ Court heard this week that lawmen were in Massiah’s community on May 31 carrying out operations. On seeing them the accused  ran off, was pursued and caught.

While at the Hastings/Worthing Police Station a search was conducted and the vegetable substance was found.

“That is just a little weed I had to smoke. I forgot it in my pocket,” he said when asked to explain.

A search warrant was later executed at his residence where more cannabis was found in a bottle in his bedroom.

He told Magistrate Frederick: “The one at home is for drinking and the one in my possession is for smoking because I smoke occasionally.”
