Delay in sentencing for jockey

Ray Anderson Herbert

The pre-sentencing report on convict Ray Anderson Herbert, is not yet completed and as such his matter was adjourned in the No. 2 Supreme Court today.

Herbert, a jockey, of no fixed place of abode, appeared before Justice Randall Worrell this morning and was told to return on August 5 when the report is expected to be ready.

Herbert, who is in his 50s, previously pleaded guilty to entering a woman’s home as a trespasser with intent to indecently assault an 11-year-old girl on January 21, 2018.

The child, according to Crown Counsel Joyann Catwell, was jolted awake on the night by a wet sensation on her lips. She then came face to face with a man standing over her.

The perpetrator placed his finger over his mouth but the child tapped her sister who was nearby and alerted her to what was happening. On seeing the child’s actions the man ran out the bedroom, through the back door, out the backyard and made good his escape.
