Local News News Thousands of students sit 11-plus exam Sandy Deane14/07/20200125 views Thousands of Class Four students are writing the Barbados Secondary School Entrance Examination (BSSEE) commonly known as the 11-plus today., From as early as 8.a.m, excited boys and girls along with their parents were waiting patiently outside their examination centres. At the St Michael School, students from the private Ifill School on Hindsbury Road told Barbados TODAY they were ready for the test that comprises papers in English, Mathematics and Composition. “I feel great,” said Jakeel Padmore. A confident Khaliah Belgrave said:” Yes I am ready for the exam, When I got up this morning, I had prayed to the Lord asking him to help with me the exam.” Strict COVID-19 protocols were in place at examination centres. At the gates, security personnel conducted temperature checks and and sanitized the hands of students. At the Ellerslie Secondary School, Principal Lieutenant Colonel Errol Brathwaite told Barbados TODAY the process was smooth. “When they [students] arrived at the gate, their temperatures were checked, their hands were sanitized, then they reported to the station so that they could register. Once they were registered… the students were escorted to the classroom from which they will be taking the examination. That process went off quite smoothly. We expect a good day, “he said.
