Flash Flood Warning in effect for Bridgetown and surrounding areas

The Barbados Meteorological Services has issued a Flash Flood Warning for Bridgetown and the surrounding areas.

The BMS said, maximum rainfall accumulations of 15.0 to 50.0 mm in moderate to heavy showers mainly around the Bridgetown area and surrounding districts.

They are advising residents and visitors that the following impacts are imminent during this forecast period: Strong runoff from higher elevations. Debris such as small rocks, mud and tree foliage could end up on roads and property. Traffic delays are likely. Flooding at the foot of hillsides and coastal roads is possible.

Another advisory will be issued at 6 p.m. or easier if conditions warrant it.
