Conductor faces the lawcourt for lewd and obscene action

A conductor appeared in a Bridgetown Court charged with willingly, openly, lewdly and obscenely exposing his person in the Cheapside Terminal today.

Steve Oneal Taylor was initially hesitant to plead guilty to the charge as he said he was simply urinating “in a corner”. Taylor told police during his arrest: “You cannot change things.  I was pissing there for years.”

The facts revealed that Taylor exposed himself while urinating in the area where vendors plied their trade. A number
of persons were also said to be passing the area.

In addition, Taylor, who lives in Kew Road, Bank Hall St Michael, pleaded guilty to having a screwdriver, an offensive weapon, without lawful authority or reasonable excuse.

Police found the ‘filed down’ screwdriver on Taylor as they searched him during the arrest for the other charge.

Magistrate Allison Burke condemned the actions of the accused reminding him that children would have been in the Cheapside terminal. She said exposing one’s self was still an offence and was considered “lewd behavior”.

Taylor said he had nothing to say and was placed on a six-month bond for having the offensive weapon.

If he breaks the bond he will have to pay $500 to the court or spend three months in prison.

He was convicted, reprimanded and discharged on the indecent exposure charge.
