But Chief Magistrate Ian Weekes told 41-year-old Nathaniel Douglas Blenman of Dash Valley, St George he must first report to the Probation Department so officials there can assess his fitness to do community service. Chief Magistrate Weekes handed down the sentence after the public service vehicle operator pleaded guilty that he, without lawful authority or reasonable excuse, willfully, openly, lewdly and obscenely exposed his person along Nursery Drive Road, a public place. Blenman told the magistrate it was the first time he committed such an act. Asked by the presiding judicial officer why he did it, the ZR driver replied: “The conductor I was working with accustomed doing it.” Blenman also testified that he was in a hurry “and I did want to be in front of the pack [other PSVs]”. He explained that when he committed the offence he was not operating from the nearby bus terminal but was running the route to get in front of the pack. The ZR driver was ordered to reappear in court on January 8 next year for a reassessment of the community service. In the meantime, he was released on $1,500 bail with one surety.
